database - install sqlite3 on mac os x? -

I'm trying to update my version of sqlite3 on Mac OS X 10.5.7. I have downloaded the source code which is recommended for UNIX programs like Unix, I compiled instructions in the remixed file and followed the instructions and everything seems to work well. However, when I check the version number of sqlite3, it stays at 3.4.0 (the older version). Why is it like this? What am i doing wrong

Most likely you can find it at a different location on the original & mdash; One or whatever is not seen in $ path or at all.
