data warehouse - Are textual fields ever allowed in fact tables? -

Is there any case where I can have a text field such as details in the facts table?

There is currently a fact table of meeting events (cereal: line per meeting), with many dimensions like date, client, location etc. I need to insert a meeting topic in the fact sheet. Is it okay, even though this is not a solution (I have not seen some examples).

Any ideas or advice from past experiences?

Thanks

This, as a "dimension dimension": a dimension so much There is no need to create a table for it, a common example would be an invoice number: They are not matrix, but because they are very unique, this 32-bit FK is included in an invoice table with 128-bit CHAR (16) fields With a wrong economy, many records in the form of your facts table. It should be done with caution, because they actually make table rows wide.

The junk dimension is usually a better option, if you have more than two dimension dimensions. Of course, if there is one dimension for which you can attach appropriately rather than the text, then it is better.
