image processing - How would you align pictures? -

I have a bunch of gif files that will be more useful as an animation. Unfortunately, they are not exactly the same size, and the main features (country boundaries) make a slight difference in the picture from the picture.

My problem seems to be solved, but I should be a little easier.

This is not the real answer to your question, but the technique is called "registration". You can get better luck with a Google search on "image registration"
